Only the good die young

Okay that's a tad dramatic but this is my first real experience with a childhood crush passing.  I am not terribly old but I am a bit younger than Luke Perry.  With that said, I had teensy...tiny...crush on him back in the day.  He was Dylan!  He was Pike! More recently, he was Fred Andrews!  My point is he meant something to me and was close enough in age.

I watched 90210...well when I got a little older..maybe. When it first came out I was kinda young for the content BUT I still watched *shhh don't tell mom*.   I, like every other girl around, had a crush on Dylan and Brandon.

Side Note - I love seeing Jason Priestley on TV again.  Its not a bad show, check it out "Private Eyes".

Anyways this is about Luke.   This is about a cute older actor that I totes had a crush on.  Yea, I had posters of him, yes I fangirled when I saw him on TV, YES I WAS AT BACCHUS SCREAMING LIKE AN IDIOT IN 2000.

He wasn't that much older than me.  Well a bit but still young enough.  When I saw he had a stroke I couldn't believe it.  When I got the news alert today that he passed, I was in shock.  This cannot be.  He is 52 years old!  He is 5 years older than my current celeb fav. This.can.not.be!

I know I have dealt with my idols being lost in recent years but this isn't really an idol.  This was different.  He is close enough in age to me to freak me out.  This isn't a drug over dose or freak accident.  He had a stroke!  A stroke...at 52.  My heart is broken...especially for his family...his friends...and his fans.

He seemed like a decent guy.  He was a good actor.  He was one of my 90's crushes.

He was Dylan...DYLAN!  Everyone's favorite bad boy.

Also, I truly did like him as Pike.  The movie was cheesy as hell but it fueled my nerdy little future even more.  I love horror, always have, but a teenage, valley girl, cheerleader VAMIPRE SLAYER...what is happening!?!??!  Teenage heart throb and vampires (NOT TWILIGHT!) Best thing EVER!

I am so sad this has happened.  R.I.P. kind sir.  You are gone from this world way too soon.

$hit, I've time traveled again....

So nothing screams I *heart* the 90's more than a chunky heel and sparkly flower things.

So imagine my shock when in my email I have:

Where's my butterfly clips and body glitter!?!?!
What were we thinking?!?
So I clicked it and saw the below... "OMG military chic also screams 90's...".  Its not exact but its close....

I mean I still have my docs because f**k y'all, docs are comfy.

Also, I do not remember my cheapy boots costing 39.99....o_O

Obviously these aren't quite as "Holy $hit 90's" as the 3" platform military style things I used to wear but its definitely pulling at my memories here.

I mean I owned something like the below back in the day so yea....
I know they say styles come back around but that makes me feel old so *plfeet*...

**side note** totally saw another chick in the mall with high-top docs and fishnets with jean shorts and a baggy band shirt & flannel.  I had to do a double take.  I wore that!  That is grunge chic and that was me...OMG stahp!
obvi not me but you get the gist!

Take me back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha!  Okay maybe I shouldn't be that dramatic...also, I think I just made myself sad....

Moving on, I saw this A-MAZING throw back to the 90's video that had me smiling like an idiot. I may be an 80's baby but the 90's were where I learned to be me.  They were cheesy but honestly...
I'm gonna go listen to my 90's Pandroa station and have a Surge Cola....after which I will run 10 miles because who the F**K needs that much sugar/caffeine?!?!?! That's like a hyper-active puppy on speed.
SIDE NOTE - Yes I am aware Mountain Dew, Red Bull, etc. has higher caffeine content but I don't fancy drinking Alien Piss (MD - inside joke with my friends...not sure if anyone else had the same...joke...) or having a heart attack.....
Or hallucinating for that matter....seriously, WTF kind of marketing was this?!?!!?
Ahhhhh kill it! Kill it with fire!!!
SIDE SIDE NOTE - No, I didn't realize immediately how silly it is to say Alien Piss with a gif of The Doctor right above....
Good lord someone stop me....talk about getting side tracked....maybe someone slipped some Surge into my coffee....

Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg....Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes, it's a duck-blur!

Okay okay okay.  So clearly I am on a nostalgia kick.  But I can NOT be the only over 30 y/o that remembers coming home from school and watching Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Tale Spin, and *ahem* DUCK TALES...a whoohoo!  Hahahaha.  No but for real that was like my after school schedule.  Come home, get snack, watch said shows while doing homework, etc.  I can still sing ALL of the f**king theme songs!

Anyways, I was browsing and saw "Disney Duck Tales Revival".  What?!?!?  Don't f**k it up man!  That is my childhood there...handle with care.  Then I saw there was a video... "All-New "DuckTales" Cast Sings Original Theme Song"...awwwww lets watch it.

So it begins and I am singing my little heart out when...

"Tales of daring do bad and good Luck Tales!
D-d-d danger...holy $hit is that David Tennant?!?!"
Then I see Scrooge McDuck.  Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  Are you kidding me, *pahahahaha*?!?!  No way...  I mean I might watch it because think about it, Duck Tales or the news...eh the news sucks, we need more Huey, Dewey, and Louie!!!
Anyways, I finished singing the Theme Song because it made me happy...yay for nostalgia!!!

UPDATE - I've been singing the damn theme song for 24 hours.  Make it stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can you be in your 30's and not have watched any 90's cartoons?!?!?!?

Okay some newer cartoons are fun but the old ones man...those are the best...maybe because as an adult I catch things and go "oh my god!".  So many hidden things that my little child brain didn't quite grasp.

Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures were pretty famous for that.  Then you had the "older teen" cartoons like Beavis & Butthead and Ren & Stimpy.  But don't forget Courage the Cowardly Dog and Rocko's Modern Life.  Soooooo many to choose from.

So I am not actually gonna reference a "dirty" reference today but just one that makes me and my friends giggle.  Way back when, when we were younger there was a scene in one of the above mentioned TV Shows.  My group references it fairly often as a joke so it almost comes as second nature now.

We were at a thing and one of the little ones kept getting 'dirty' so their mom kept wiping their hands/face off.  To the point where we were like "dude just leave it, they are fine".  At one point mom did it like 4 times in a row.  Kid picked up chalk, mom wiped off hands.  Kid picked up chips, mom wiped off hands. Kid picked up other kids toy, mom wiped off hands.  Look I get it you don't want the little one sick but good lord!  Anyways, at one point she was doing this and I said *sounding like Woody Allen* "Turn the page, wash your hands.  Turn the page, wash your hands."

Only one person got it and it was my relative because we watched the show together.  We were giggling like idiots and everyone else was like "WTF...?".  So I said:

"Its Filbert".
*blank stares*.
"You know the turtle dude from Rocko's Modern Life..."
*confused stares*.
"OMG y'all come on! Rocko...the Wallaby...came on Nickelodeon..."
*You are weird stares*

Seriously?! Showed the below:

The kids mom "Oh, that show was dumb, I never watched it".
You're dumb...this show was comedic gold.

Who subscribes to 500+ websites/blogs/newsletters in one f**king night!??!?!

Someone used MY HOTMAIL to sign up for a gazillion things.  After the first 300 or so, the junk filter seemed to realize something may be wrong and started junking them.  But I still had 500+ f**king emails download to my God Blessed phone when I woke up!!!!!!!!!

Who does that?!!??!  Set up a "junk email" address and use it to sign up for websites you don't want emails from but want to access or whatever.  Don't just pick a random f**king email!!!!!!!!!

I used to dance to this song. My BFF and I did that weird pop/hump air to this song. How did I forget about this song?!?!

This is like a throw back to my early teens.  I mean the song came out in 1993.  I was what...12.  OMG I wasn't even a teen yet!  I was going to sock hops & CYA dances and dancing to this!  CYA Dances!!!!!  That is the CHRISTIAN Youth Association.  How WRONG is that?!?!  I even had a cassette tape of it!!!!  Mom what were you thinking?!?!

I don't even think I understood the whole reference.  I mean I was 12 so I knew SOMETHING but just, just listen to the lyrics!!! Oh and watch the video.  I am having flashbacks of shaking it like a dog and doing the Fire Hydrant.  Wow...just wow.  That's just wrong wrong wrong.  And we thought we were hot $hit dancing like that.  Good doG!

PLEASE!!!Gemme dat donkey butt and dem big ole legs! Update: on Facebook   #12Gauge  https://www.facebook.com/TwelveMuzik/

I got you babe!

Hahaha, whomever was DJ-ing early this morning on one of the local radio stations...you sir/ma'am WIN for today!

I woke up as usual to my blaring phone alarm.  I went in my bathroom to get ready and turned on the radio.  I was immediately greeted with the refrain of "I got you babe".  Which made me think of Groundhog Day (the movie).  Then I realized today IS Groundhog Day and I just giggled and giggled.

You see I love that movie.  I have seen it countless times.  And every time, every single time, it still gets me.  It has a profound message.  This @$$hat of a weatherman is forced to relive the same mundane day over and over and over.  To the point where he does ridiculous things, does wonderful things and even kills himself a few times only to be awakened again by the iconic voices of Sonny & Cher and realize it is yet again Groundhog Day.

It is a second chances movie.  He is forced to keep reliving the same day until he gets it right.  Fate/the universe/some deity stepped in (probably Gabriel...dang trickster) to change his path.  How many people wish for something like this?  I mean not exactly like this but to learn a lifetime of mistakes in "one day" so that for the rest of your life you can make the better choice.  You can learn why you shouldn't be horrible to others just because you feel like you are better then them (you should already know this but whatever).  Seriously, don't be a like Luci...don't be a "great big bag of dicks".  Clearly there will still be hardships and bad decisions but for the most part this guy learned to be a better person, that has to mean something.

Anyways, kudos to you local radio DJ, you made my morning and made me want to go home and watch Groundhog Day for the umpteenth time!  The only thing that would have made me giggle more is if  it was Tuesday and I also heard "Heat of the Moment".  That my friend would have been EPIC.

What goes around comes around

This is not about revenge as you may have previously thought...it is also not to be said as that creeptastic child from BBC America's Intruder's .  What is it about creepy kids...it's like nightmare central for me. Give me an ax murderer, ghost, whatever and I'm fine...creeper kid *never sleeping again*.

Anyways, I mean style.  My mom would always joke that what I was wearing in the mid nineties was similar to what she wore in the 60's/70's.  Bell bottom pants, tie dye, flowers, peace signs, ying yangs, crop tops...I mean the list goes on and on.  And of course cool as I was I thought "uh no, these are totally different!"  Then the late nineties happened and I merged my hippie/disco self with the grunge look.  I wasn't hard core but I was a fan of doc martin boots, plaid shirts and baggy jeans...oh and don't forget layers of necklaces with black rope chokers.   But I wasn't all grunge.  I was a bit style bipolar.  I could go from spice girls to nirvana and everything in between in relation to dress and music choice.  My closet, hell, my whole room, looked like the 90's exploded in it!

What I am noticing now that I am OLD(er) is my mom was so freaking right!!!  That military boot style that my friends made fun of me for wearing is sooooooooooooooooooooo back.  I honestly didn't realize it.  I still have my docs.  I love(d) my docs! But I haven't worn them in quite a few years.  Anyways, I was at the mall Christmas shopping and a tween went be-bopping past me in a neon shirt, blue leggings and docs.  Like the high ankle ones I used to wear. I had to do a double take to make sure I actually saw what I thought I was seeing.  It was like a clash of the decades.  80's neon/leggings meets 90's "grunge".  Can't wait to see what other 90's nostalgia comes back in style.  I am hoping the weird 5 tiny clips hair style stays away but it probably wont.  I mean I wore it like a champ but it wasn't my best look, ha!
