Whatchu mean that's not your Natural Hair Color?!??!

You don't realize how unique we are until you are speaking with someone not from NOLA who has never been to Mardi Gras about things happening here.

- saying I need to sign off early to get to the store before they close the roads

- saying i need to leave early because a float is stuck on the interstate and its a mess

- Explaining what "Deep Gras" is

- saying I am so excited to catch a shoe

    - Posting pics of said shoe and having people go "where did they buy that?!?!?"

        - Newsflash...they made them!!!

- Saying I need to find my tutu

- Saying I don't know which wig to wear tonight

    - Them Being shocked when I say I have more than one

- Saying I bought glitter from an 8 y/o who made her own glitter making business

- Saying we have to make a sign for our friends riding

- Trying to explain its a NEUTRAL GROUND!!!!!

-also trying to explain why there is "beef" between Sidewalk Side and Neutral Ground Side

- Saying I need my ladder

- Trying to explain why Purple, Green and Gold do actually go together

- Trying to explain I probably get more steps during Mardi Gras than I do during a half.

-Also trying to explain its a MARATHON.  this year its 8 straight days of parades and partying

    - My body will probably hate me Wednesday but it will be a good time.

I'm sure there are more but I have so confused my poor co-workers.

Bloody Hell!

But like for real.

So we are FINALLY Mardi Gras-ing again.

*woot woot*

Here's a short story.  We went to Thoth/Bacchus Sunday.

*partaaaaartay*

We had sooooooo much fun!

There was drinking (we had a DD) and eating and just being NOLA again.  It was great!

By the time Bacchus rolls by we've been drinking since like 8AM.  Its spaced out.  Meaning we are giddy but not sloppy.

I am on my step ladder (because I am hella short) trying to catch a blinky ball for my neurotic dog who goes ape $hit for them.

Mind you we haven't done this in a hot second so I am a little out of practice with dodging things thrown at my face.  Plus drinking...AND ITS DARK!

So hubs is standing behind me making sure I dont get knocked off when it happens.  I am looking at the float, I have my hands up, but something squeaks past and *BAM*

Hits me right on the bridge of my nose.  It was caught on my thumb but part of it slapped me in the face.  I bent over in pain and said "F**king Ow!"

Hubs jokingly says "you're not supposed to catch it with your face" he's all hahaha until I move my hand and there is blood running down the side of my nose.

I walk over to the only sober person and said "I need a medic!"  I look like I am crying blood. She is like aw hell.  She got me all cleaned up and and gave me another beer...thankfully it stopped bleeding but it f**king HURT!

DAYS later it still hurt.  I have a knot on my nose, a tiny cut, and a partial black eye (more yellow than black).   At least I had fun doing it ha ha ha

I said 2021 needed to chill, not FREEZE the South!

So obvi with COVID still running rampant Mardi Gras was cancelled.  Well the parades and formal parties were canceled and I get it, but b**ch you cannot take MY holiday!

I love holidays but Halloween and MardGras are my FAVORITES.  So even if I can't parade and get silly with my family & peeps, I am still celebrating...in place.

On Kings day I decorated.  I have Purple, Green, & Gold lights, a MardGras Wreath, and countless beads and MardGras  stuff all over.  It makes me happy.  I mean 80% of my decor was caught from floats over the years but it works.

We are still doing the King Cake thing because who the eff cancels King Cake?!?!  And on MardGras  Day we had plans to sit on a porch and people watch because although all the $hit is shut down you know there will be people roaming the streets looking at House Floats and other decor.  And we were probably going to go looking for House Floats ourselves.

Oh right and that's something we did too.  We couldn't go to parades so THOUSANDS of houses became floats you can visit on your own time AND City park did a reverse parade.   Floats in the Oaks, where you drive past the parade.  Look you can "officially" shut it down but you can't kill our spirit.  MardGras is our holiday, we will figure out a way to still have SOMETHING!

I mean look at this, this is SE LA.

But wait...look at the US.

It all over the world. Not as much as down here but look at the MardGras spirit everywhere!!! God, I love my City...sometimes haha

https://www.kreweofhousefloats.org/map

Moving on.  We've had cold MardGras.  We've had years where just catching a pair of beads caused immense pain because your hands were basically frozen.  But this year is about to be a record year for cold.  As of right now when we wake up on MardGras Day it will be 26 degrees with wind chills in the upper teens.  Pardon me but do we know we live in the South?  Like the DEEP SOUTH!

So Monday we will be shut down for Icy Roads..again.  Hopefully not this far South but only 20 miles west of us they will have possible snow so WTAF Mother Nature?!?!?!

Like I said 2021 needs to...let's go with calm the f**k down! Whatever, I am celebrating something so happy MardGras y'all!

Parade Etiquette - Don't be a Whale Vagina

Okay I've been here but I've been stupid busy.  Anyway, PARADE ETIQUETTE!  I have said this before and I will say it again.  Have some f**king MANNERS when in public.  Would it f**king kill you to act like a decent human while in public?!?!?!

Just because you aren't from NOLA doesn't mean you are exempt from etiquette.  Actually acting like a tw@t waffle is a great way to get your @$$ kicked by a bunch of locals tired of your $hit.

Moving on.  Went to a parade...got mad...still had fun...good people prevail!!!!

So there we are EARLY to a parade to claim our spot.  We were behind a barricade, honestly best spot because no one can get in front of you....WRONG!  Well normally yes but not this time.  This time people were literally on top of the marching groups and the "chaperones" were f**king failing at their jobs.  Be aggressive!  You have the right per your stupid little badge.  Tell those Mother F**kers to GET BACK TO THE SIDEWALK!

Whatever, they failed and we got irritated.  Mainly because we were there for a while when suddenly the parade gets to us and people just stood....IN FRONT OF THE BARRICADE! The 1st few we all mouthed off to, sheepishly moved...good girls and boys.  But then there was this "family".  Two ladies, one man and a VERY small child.

They stood right in front of us.  AND WOULDN'T MOVE!  After a 10 min pissing fight we all said f**k the barricade because it clearly doesn't matter and moved to the front of the STUPID crowd.  Well all the peeps behind the barricade who moved were now all besties with a singular cause.  F**k with the piece of $hit family.

Now I am not (nor were the people around me) one to mess with a kid.  They are exempt but I will without a doubt subtly f**k with adults setting a bad example. I made sure that kid got throws and saw all the sights because I am not completely heartless.

As I walked around said barricade a lady next to me said something unkind but true about the $hitheads in front of us. All I did was nod.  The psycho B**ch (mom or aunt, not sure) spins around and screams in my face "WE HAVE A F**KING 5 YEAR OLD!!!!!!" (ok...now all bets of me being nice are off) to which I replied calmly (while leaning back) "and you are setting a great example on how to be a C**t."

Apparently this was unexpected because she gasped walked away.  They were acting like a bunch of High/Drunk high school kids but they were 30+ AND HAD A KID WITH THEM!!!!!!!!!! Mind you it is late (well after 9 PM).  A 5 year old should not be in or near the FRENCH QUARTER at this time.  So an unspoken thing happened. All of the adults who were DONE with their $hit, start dropping every subtle curse word/inappropriate word you could imagine along with HIGHLY inappropriate stories...some about the adults with said kid.  Basically the crowd made the ADULTS so uncomfortable they left.  Was is mature no, but sometimes dickheads need to be put in their place. The kid had no idea what was happening...he was FIVE (apparently) and was just smiling and having fun.

Moral of the story is if you set a bad example and act like a f**k nugget people will band together to publicly shame you.  Like I said, Kid had no idea what was happening, he was focused on the parade.  But the parents or whoever they were....realized they messed up and left...victory is ours!!!  Although, I do feel bad for the kid but not bad enough to give in.

I don't give a flying f**k if you have kids or not, that does NOT give you the "right" to be an @$$.  You want a "front row" spot for the little one...get there early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Or at least be nice about it and ask.  Had they said hey he can't see can he get here, TOTALLY DIFFERENT

It's not Mardi Gras, unless someone leaves with a bloody lip...

I swear I have a bead magnet on my FACE.  I'm not completely uncoordinated.  Clumsy, yes but I can catch things...especially if they are thrown at my FACE!

If you've ever attended a Mardi Gras parade you know what I am talking about.  Overly excited...possibly drunk, Krewe, throwing beads, cups, doubloons, frisbees, stuffed animals wrapped in beads, footballs, etc. off of moving vehicles IN THE DARK has the makings of "oops, sorry 'bout your face".
I usually manage to not lose an eye or get a bloody lip but do end up getting bruises or sprained fingers (especially if its cold).  But this year, I've made it to exactly TWO nights of parades (5 parades total) and have gotten a bloody lip AT BOTH.

One night, I blame it on the rain.  Yes, I was one of those dumb@$$e$ standing in the awful weather trying to catch a purse.  Not because I needed a purse but because we already had plans, I knew people riding, and decided f**k it, lets go.   The rain wasn't too hard but annoying none the less.  I had on a poncho so it was like wearing blinders.  I couldn't see up or to either side.  So its no surprise my luck ran out and something HIT ME IN THE MOUTH.  It was a tiny purse bracelet.  Its was super cute.  It made me BLEED
Some butthole in the crowd, saw it hit me, saw me bend over to get it, DOVE FOR IT almost knocking me over, snatched it, and ran off.  Um excuse me, that broke my face...its mine.
My bottom lip was bloody but nothing too bad.

Night number two.  No rain *YAY*.  I was on a step ladder.  I couldn't see $hit.  I was holding my cup with my teeth trying to fix my shirt.  Something came out of no where and hit me square in the face.  I'm still not sure where it came from, I was looking at the f**king float.  Whatever it was cracked my cup and pushed it up.  This pushed the crack open and over my upper lip.  Blood started dripping immediately.  I removed the cup and bent over to get whatever the f**k just hit me and was under my step ladder.  This guy dove for it almost knocking me off my ladder, and started to walk away. This time I said, "HEY! You could at least tell me what busted my lip."
He looked embarrassed and handed it to me.  I gave him a bloody smile.  (sexy I know)
It ended up being a cool scarf, headband, thing.  It was wrapped in plastic which is what busted my face...*ouch*.

So my personal opinion is if a throw "hurts" someone...they have earned said throw.  You pick that $hit up and hand it to them as a trophy.  That's what I do.  "Oh honey that looked painful, here's what slapped you in the face".  Where it proud!  Show that, whatever, who is boss!

STOP DRINKING & DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was all ready to make a funny/fun/silly Mardi Gras post but that will have to wait....

For f**ks sake people there are other options.  I know a lot of people have done it...I know its stupid.  I know sometimes people don't realize how impaired they are until after they are driving.  I know sometimes friends aren't there to stop you!  I know $hit happens! I know!

But there are so many more options these days than EVER.  You've always been able to call a friend.  Back in the day if you had cash, call a cab.  Or f**king walk!  But now there is Uber & Lyft and Cabs take CCs.  Or stay where you are and sleep it off.  Meaning you have NO EXCUSE

Not only do you endanger yourself, but you run the risk of KILLING SOMEONE ELSE in the process.  Mardi Gras is a time of partying.  This has been the case for YEARS.  But in the past TWO days I've gotten news alerts about FIVE accidents caused by an "impaired" driver and not all were in NOLA.  Not to mention my friend's son was involved in a hit and run with a DRUNK DRIVER just before the parade insanity started.  That Mo-fo t-boned him, backed up, and f**king took off!  I'm not even sure how his truck was still drive-able but whatever.  The son was okay (Thank GOD!) but pretty beat up and bleeding everywhere.

I was down the street from the Endymion fiasco.  If you don't know some f**k nugget who was HEAVILY intoxicated drove his truck into the parade crowd injuring more than 30 people and sending 21 to the hospital.  Thankfully no one died but some are hurt and hurt bad.  Not sure how only one child was struck...that area is FULL of families...honestly that is a miracle and he only had minor injuries.  This guy is 25...he has messed up his entire life.  There is no scenario where he doesn't have a serious mark on his record and probably prison.  He is claiming he "accepted a drink" from a stranger on the street and doesn't remember anything else.  Sorry buddy that isn't really an excuse.  One don't take drinks from strangers and two DON'T DRIVE!  Now if his blood screen comes back with a roofie in it, okay I'll give you a little sympathy BUT your blood alcohol 2 hours after the accident was still three times the legal limit.....sooooooooo something doesn't add up.  I've been drugged before (unfortunately)...I didn't keep drinking...I think I had half a drink total and couldn't function anymore ...and I know others (unfortunately) that said the same thing...they didn't drink anything else after they were drugged...so this makes no sense to me but I am not an expert so who knows.

In another incident a CHILD was killed on I10 because of an impaired driver and in another a woman in the vehicle with an impaired driver died after the vehicle flipped.

Don't be scared to stand up to an intoxicated person who is trying to leave.  Take their keys and walk away.  If they somehow get in the car, DO NOT GET IN.  I've done it.  I've taken keys.  I've refused to get in a car.  Its hard! Your friend/family gets mad...sometimes very mean but its the right decision.  If something happens and you don't at least try you will feel guilty.  It isn't your fault but you will feel like you should have done something more.  It sucks... It is much easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.   And the next day you usually get an apology and a thank you...usually...some people are @$$holes...you don't need them...trust me but you still did the right thing.

It isn't worth it!  Please...please I beg you stop this.  And its all ages doing it..not just "young people".  I think one of the incidents was a 50+ y/o, so you can't blame just one generation.  No one wants to get a call/knock at the door saying their child/spouse/parent/sibling/friend/whatever was injured or killed in a crash.......accidents happen without impairment but these types...these are preventable.

Rant over, NOLA Gurl out....now lets go enjoy the rest of Mardi Gras, hopefully with no more craziness!

99% of the time, flashers aren't local. The locals are usually judging the flashers. Its a f**king plastic bead, put your tits away!

*****Begin Transmission*****

I am not talking about Bourbon St.  Truthfully, I don't care what happens on Bourbon.  There aren't CHILDREN on Bourbon.  Well, there shouldn't be children on Bourbon.  It really isn't a place for youngins....at least at night and ESPECIALLY during Mardi Gras Season.

I was at a f**king parade.  Yes, it was a parade just outside of the Quarter but its still a family parade.  Its a nerd parade.  Some of the costumes are sexy but nothing raunchy or questionable or something that you would be like "OMG little Johnny shouldn't see that!".  I mean other than the obvious Aliens trying to hide among the masses, its a fairly normal parade.

I am not a fuddy duddy.  When I go to parades, I don't expect a royal treatment.  I know its going to be crowded.  I know I'm going to get shoved and stepped on.  I know there will be drunk idiots.  But there is a point when my calm  understanding of parade people stops being accepting and starts moving me more towards throwing elbows.
So we got there early and had a spot right on the barricade. Which for me is AWESOME because I am a little on the short side so me being front and center is wonderful.  I'd had some beers myself so I was making friends with EVERYONE...such a social butterfly at times *hehehe*.  I met people from San Diego, Houston, India, San Jose and Miami.  There were a few kids in the vicinity and I went into my usual NOLA tour guide mode.  Meaning I love that people visit my city so I want to make them feel welcome.  It was great.  We were enjoying this crazy goofy parade and chit chatting and just having a grand old time...until about 1/2 way through the parade.  That is the point where chaos entered in the form of a VERY drunk girl and two of her friends.  I don't mind drunk.  I really don't.  But stupid drunk that ends up with me injured...that my friends I CANNOT STAND!
As I've mentioned I am little and I tend to get lost in the crowd, which is why my husband usually tries to stand behind me to kind of keep me safe (daaaaaw).  Well Mrs. Drunky McDrunkerson decided that the best way for her to see the parade was on top of me.  Like literally ON TOP OF ME.  I was smooshed against the f**king barricade.  She was leaning over me.  Like all her weight on little ol' me.  I could feel her f**king nipples through her bra and two shirts and my two shirts.  Get off b**ch!!!!!  I would lean back a bit and she would move.  Then almost jump over my head to get to the parade peeps.  One of her jump forward moments ended with her losing her balance, slipping of the curb and latching on to me for stability.  She was at least twice my size.  I went forward into the barricade.  My skinny little chicken leg went between the bars and my forearms slammed into the top of it.  It f**king HURT!
My husband did what any husband would do, grabbed her and threw her off of me.  No fight ensued and she did apologize.  Yea yea yea whatever, stupid c**t...

Somehow she wormed her way next to me...between me and this adorable FAMILY from out of town.  Crazy drunk girl took the girls out.  She wasn't unattractive but really?!!?!?  So there they are eye level with me and just above a little girls head.  It was their daughters b-day.  Happy b-day little bit, have some tits in your face.  Are you for real?!?!!?  There are CHILDREN right next to you, put those away!!!

But alas, she did not....she did cover them by pulling her bra cups back up...so no more nips.  And look I am not ashamed of the tatas but using them like that just cheapens them.  Sorry, not sorry.

Then...oh yes, it gets better.  Then she looks at me and says "why aren't yours out?!!?" *shocked* "Ummmm, no I don't think I'll be doing that".  She says, "why not, you get more beads that way!!!" *WTF*  "Yea, no one wants to see my tiny tatas".  I was trying to be tactful but still let her know PUT YOUR BOOBS AWAY!  Instead her friend, who I will admit was quite attractive, turned to me and said "I wouldn't mind seeing them".  Oh....Oh my *blushing*...did I just get hit on by a very attractive girl?!?! *hehehehe*

Still no, these puppies are staying under wraps.  After that it got a little better.  Her two friends were keeping her tamed but the boobies still stayed on display.  What kills me is the parade peeps weren't like "YEA, whoohooo boobs!!!" Instead they were like "Oh...what....ummmm..." *looking anywhere but at the boobs* and then handed me whatever trinkets they were giving away.  Because there were also KIDS IN THE PARADE!!!!
Seeeeeeeeeee you don't have to show your boobs to get Mardi Gras stuff!!!!  Just smile and wave.  That's all I did and I had all kinds of crap to bring home.  I like this parade because almost everything is homemade.  Its fun little things you get.

I woke up Sunday with the mother of all bruises on my thigh.  There is a hard lump and its a lovely shade of red purple blue green.  My forearms are beat up too and I have a bruise on my ribs....probably from falling into the barricade.
Lesson:  Drinking at parades is fine.  But try not to injure other people in your quest for cheap crap you can buy at the Wal-Mart. Oh and most people from NOLA don't show their boobs for beads!  We frown upon that.  Keep that $hit for Bourbon and leave it off of the parade routes.

Happy King's D-ahhhhh what is that?!?!

Okay so being from NOLA we do this thing called King Cake launching Mardi Gras Season (officially beginning 1/6 - King's Day).  The tradition is to put a Baby or other trinket...like a bean or a nut or whatever but usually its a baby, in the king cake and who ever "gets the baby" buys the next cake.  This goes on through Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) also known as the day before Ash Wednesday...the first day of Lent.  Obviously this tradition has some of its roots in Christianity but the origins vary.  Look it up, seriously...there are a gazillion articles about it.

Moving on...in other parts of the country/world there are other similar traditions.  They vary from place to place but the base is essentially the same. It is a round-ish cake with a baby (or trinket), the person that gets the baby gets the next cake.

With that said I saw this pic and I feel very uncomfortable. My friend shared the page...all I saw was the picture.
OMG you killed it!

Its a jewelry tutorial site.  Apparently she uses "recycled" products to create stuff.  While most of her stuff looks cool...this is a bit...unsettling, at least to me.  I mean its a baby corkscrewed through the torso! Couldn't we have found a different way to adhere the baby to the ring?!?!  I mean its a figure of a baby FGS!  I'm sure glue would have worked...or maybe wrap the wire around the baby.  Its like a plastic baby murder ring...I dunno, it just seems wrong.

You can see the website in the pic, check it out.  Her other stuff is kinda neat, she is quite talented, seeeeeeee. I'm really not trying to be a jerk...its just that particular item weirded me out.  Sorry...

I'm too old for this...

...said no New Orleanian ever!  Okay maybe SOME say this but they are lame (hehehe).  You just have to remember its a "Marathon" not a "Sprint" and your body won't hate you AS MUCH

So its Lundi Gras which around here means you either took off of work to recover from the weekend and get ready for tonight OR you are suffering through an insanely slow day while attempting to recover from the weekend. Along with trying to figure out how you are going to manage another evening of parades AND be ready for Fat Tuesday after working a full day.  Oh the insanity.

Speaking of the weekend.  I am not THAT big of a drinker...I mean we have fun but I try to keep my wits about me.  Obviously this doesn't always happen, I am human after all....well at least I think I am *insert dramatic music*.   I can tell you that today I am not exactly hung over but I am feeling a bit *meh*.   Three nights of drinking and two days of "day drinking" has taken its toll.  Add in the horrifically unhealthy food eaten and getting about 4 hours of sleep (if that) per night and you see why I am a hot mess today.   Seriously though a side effect of parades (at least for me) is every time I close my eyes I see flashing beads, glowing headbands and brightly lit floats zooming by.  It is like my brain refused to shut off!!!!! "Sleep, why you no come to me!"

Friday was prep night...also known as "get your $hit together so you don't have to worry about it Saturday/Sunday".  While getting said $hit together wine was drunk...and it was good. I had a crazy array of stuff purchased from the store.  Two 12 packs of beer, Zapps, Kahlua White Russian, Wine, Mixers for breakfast, King cake, Mini Bluetooth speaker, Wet Ones, "and a partridge in a pear tree"...ha!   I mean it is all essential if you want to have a stress free parading, well minus the partridge...that would just be weird.  Then after that I went to the daiquiri shop and got my "starter" boos for both days.  Damn, that's a lot you might say BUT you are out there ALL DAY!  Meaning you are going to run out of drinks/food if you aren't prepared.  And honestly that is NOTHING compared to what a lot of people bring out.

Side Note - there was also food.  I just wasn't in charge of food.  Others brought FRIED chicken and jambalaya and other assortments of fillers (don't drink on an empty stomach kids...its a bad idea, mmmkay).

So we saw Luke Bryan (Endymion) and John C. Reilly (Bacchus).  And that was pretty cool.  I have battle wounds...not cool.  My left hand looks like I punched a wall but I didn't. I was attacked by a bag of beads.  My muscles hurt from holding chirren and making sure they had fun.  I have random bruises and I really don't know how I am going to eat today but it was totally worth it.  We had so much fun and that is what it is all about.  The kids were filthy and exhausted which is definitely a sign of a good day.

I am hoping the weather holds out for tonight and tomorrow.  It looks like it is going to be windy and cold which sucks because Saturday and Sunday were GORGEOUSPerfect parading weather!!!!

So off I go to eat yet more unhealthy stuff because after a weekend of drinking and eating unhealthy all I want is a freaking chili cheese coney with tots and a coke! *mmmmmm coke*

Oh yea and let me tell you drinking and parading for two straight days means lil ole me sounds like a squeak toy.  *Ugh* I need some hot tea with honey stat!

Guess what day it is??? Guess.What.Day.It.Is?

It's....MARDI GRAS!!!!  Well it is the Friday BEFORE Mardi Gras.  Have I mentioned I like Mardi Gras.  It is my 2nd favorite holiday behind Halloween.  I mean they run a very close race and yea, it is a holiday...at least if you are from 'round these parts.  How could I not love this holiday!?!?  You dress up in completely contrasting colors (purple, green, gold) or some other insane costume that is usually a nod to the great city of NOLA and dance in the streets.  You scream at drunken strangers on insanely decorated Papier-mâché looking contraptions wanting cheap plastic beads which end up being beamed at your face.  And you are probably tipsy which just means your reflexes are off so they actually hit you in the face.  Then we all take pics of your battle wounds and post them to Facebook.  BEST HOLIDAY EVER!

I'm so excited I could do piqué turns around my office *ahhhhhhhhhhhh*.  I just want to Second Line and Mardi Gras Wobble...how the hell am I supposed to sit still for the next two hours?!?!?!  I feel like a squirrel on a coffee bean!  Of course it isn't helping that we are all emailing/texting each other plans for the weekend.  It is in my face every 5 minutes...PARADES! And I'm singing like an idiot, this one is in my head right now  "Ain't no place to pee on Mardi Gras day...Mardi Gras Day!"

But we have a place to pee...we have a thing...a thing with a seat and a BUCKET!  We WILL have a place to pee on Mardi Gras day (and before)!  It might not be the most luxurious BUT after 6 beers you really don't care you just know you gotta go and you will resort to bushes if it comes down to it.  I don't recommend the bushes...you can get arrested and it's kind of gross but when nature calls and you are drinking....yea.   And its so unfair because for boys it is easy and can be kind of hidden...we girls have to squat, exposing our bare backsides and come on, there really is no way for us to be discrete!

I just can't wait! I have my tutu and Mardi Gras tiara and Mardi Gras t-shits and I am ready set go!!!  I just need to go gets my gallon of daiquiri and some beers for the hubs...can it be tomorrow already!?!?!?   Do you think I said Mardi Gras enough times???  I feel like its that Limp Bizkit song...you know it (maybe) "if I say f**k two more times, That's forty six f**ks in this f**ked up rhyme"

This post is a mess but I am exploding with energy and this is my only means to expel it right now!

Happy  Mardi Gras y'all!!!

Cult of the Sacred Drunken Wookie *garbled wookie sound*

So there is this thing called Mardi Gras where I am from, you may have heard of it...  If so, you know for the month or so leading up to Mardi Gras is Carnival Season.  I know many call it all Mardi Gras but technically that is just the day everything comes to a head.

During this "season" we have parades.  Lots of parades of varying sorts.  Some are NOT kid friendly...those usually take place in the quarter and come with a warning, sort of.  Others are walking a fine line between kid friendly and not kid friendly...those are the best.  Dirty Jokes hidden in plain sight!

Moving on, recently there was the parade of geeks/nerds/browncoats...you get the idea.  The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus rolled and truthfully, it was super fun!  There was Star Wars everything and Trekkies and Browncoats and Whovians and, and, and OMG so many others!  The "Pope" was Andy Richter and Peter Mayhew was there too!!!

I think what I loved the most is that it WASN'T like the big super krewes and it is all made by the revelers.  Even a lot of the "throws" are homemade.  I actually got quite a bit of "loot" for it being such a small parade that most people go to just see the costumes/floats.  I was getting so much that the guy next to me, whom I'd never met, started teasing me.  It was all in good fun!  At one point a rather attractive girl gave me this glowing ring thing and he said "oh come on, she has literally gotten everything in this parade." and the girl responded "but look at her sweet little face!" So he said "what about my sweet little face?!?!" Then she said, "not sweet enough..." or something of that nature *shrugged* and skipped away. I thought it was hilarious.  I tried to share some "loot" but he didn't want anything.

Here are some pics below...some mine, some my friend's, all awesome!

Phone home...?

Good job! Stay in character!

The "loot".  See that obnoxious light?  Yea, I got that for having such a "sweet face"

Okay, it may be a little who-centric (ONLY 4 of the 11 pics) but I couldn't upload ALL my pics...well I could, but I wont.  These are just the "best" ones.  I will definitely be attending this next year!  Maybe I'll join the Krewe...hmmmmm.

I just geeked out so bad...my co-workers think I am insane

I live in NOLA (well near enough).  I am a Mardi Gras nut, I love it!  I go to as many parades as I can...which because I am a responsible adult isn't as many as I'd like.  I am a sci-fi/fantasy nerd....how the hell have I not attended the Krewe of Chewbacchus parade?!?!?!  I've heard of it in passing but apparently my brain didn't register what it was.

It is fandom meet Mardi Gras.  Whovians and Trekkies and Star Wars Freaks, oh my!  I cannot contain my glee.  I mean I want to go so bad I will go by myself if I have to just to see it all.  It seems everything is basically homemade.  Just the costumes alone, what?!?  And apparently the throws are all unique as well.  Whatever you want essentially.  The Krewe du Who has fully functional Face of Boe and I saw this year they have a full scale remote control TARDIS and The Moment.  Seriously, inhuman noises were coming from me as I read!  But obvi it is not all Who stuff.  It is all fandoms and sub genres and all things geeky/nerdy...oh my God I love it and I haven't seen it yet.

My fav thing is the the annual fee to be a member is $42.  Yea that's right, they did that.  I have no idea how long they've been around but it can't be that long...am I that out of touch?!!?!?  For goodness sake it is call "Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus" this year's theme is "The Cult of the Sacred Drunken Wookiee"  I am dying!!!!
