It's just a bunch of Hocus Pocus, right?

I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red

I am the one hiding under your stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair

This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song

Yay, my FAVORITE holiday!!!  So of course I am in something Halloween-y, right...
Its f**king 90 degrees outside...HELLO, Mother Nature, its OCTOBER...WTF?!?!  Anyways, I bought this shirt, so I am wearing it!

Moving on.  I also had bats in my hair, orange & black nail polish, and black & orange eye lashes.  I don't really leave my office...its fine.  Until your boss calls you AFTER you are at work and says "hey, can you go see so & so (really big customer), I can't make it in time".  Ummmmm sure...I mean I look like Halloween threw up on me but yea sure...no problem (hyperventilating).

I rolled up to the customer...freaking out a bit...and was greeted at the door by The Doctor (yay!!!) & a vampire. "Oh thank god!".  Soooo turns out they were all dressed up in costume, whoohoo!  I had my meeting, had some Halloween goodies, and went on my way.  We left at 1:30 *whoohoo* "candy, candy, candy, candy".

Doctor Who, making instant best friends out of strangers since 1963

Okay so recently I was in a meeting.  We were waiting for some other important peoples to arrive.  Of course being one of the two the faces of my company I couldn't just sit there and play on my phone *darn*.  I had to be social and interact with the persons already in the room.  Idle chit chat, right, anyway.

So the usual was thrown about...Where are you from?  Did you watch dem Tigers?  Can you believe this insane weather?!?!  And of course, where'd you go to school?  Since I wasn't in NOLA, I figured they were asking about College.  So I said I went to LSU for my Undergrad and UNO for my MBA.  There were maybe 5 people in the room so far.  So I got oh yea, cool.  Wow, an MBA, so your like smart *wink, wink*.  Then the (attractive yet VERY quiet) guy next to me was staring at me, barely containing his smile/laughter.  So ARE you a Master? I started to get defensive, I was thinking "what you don't think I'm smart enough to have a Masters or something?!?!"  But before I could say anything @$$hole-ish he just leaned over and whispered "I thought you wanted to be called Missy... *raised eyebrow*".

Okay he has NO IDEA if I am a whovian, right?!?!  I was like no f**king way!  I swear my jaw was hanging with no response in sight.  Then I looked down and realized my business satchel has "Bad Wolf" written very faintly on it.   I've had it FOREVER and no one has said anything before so I didn't even think about it!

So I just busted out laughing, I couldn't come up with anything witty, it was too much, my brain shorted out.  So he started laughing and the rest of the room was like "WTF...?"

I was teary eyed and giggly.  It was hilarious (to us)!  The best response I had, after nearly snorting with laughter, was "do I look like a cracked out Mary Poppins???" Which only increased the giggles from both of us.

So I shook his hand and said good one, you got me, I wasn't expecting that!  The rest of the peeps were still very confused.  We eventually exited our personal fandom bubble and started talking to the rest again, never explaining why I wasn't offended by what he said or why we were laughing so hard.

It's like "oh you like Doctor Who?!?!?!" *instant bond*  I love it!!!

I just geeked out so bad...my co-workers think I am insane

I live in NOLA (well near enough).  I am a Mardi Gras nut, I love it!  I go to as many parades as I can...which because I am a responsible adult isn't as many as I'd like.  I am a sci-fi/fantasy nerd....how the hell have I not attended the Krewe of Chewbacchus parade?!?!?!  I've heard of it in passing but apparently my brain didn't register what it was.

It is fandom meet Mardi Gras.  Whovians and Trekkies and Star Wars Freaks, oh my!  I cannot contain my glee.  I mean I want to go so bad I will go by myself if I have to just to see it all.  It seems everything is basically homemade.  Just the costumes alone, what?!?  And apparently the throws are all unique as well.  Whatever you want essentially.  The Krewe du Who has fully functional Face of Boe and I saw this year they have a full scale remote control TARDIS and The Moment.  Seriously, inhuman noises were coming from me as I read!  But obvi it is not all Who stuff.  It is all fandoms and sub genres and all things geeky/nerdy...oh my God I love it and I haven't seen it yet.

My fav thing is the the annual fee to be a member is $42.  Yea that's right, they did that.  I have no idea how long they've been around but it can't be that long...am I that out of touch?!!?!?  For goodness sake it is call "Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus" this year's theme is "The Cult of the Sacred Drunken Wookiee"  I am dying!!!!

Its like a secret society thats not really a secret!

So I have quite a varied style.  I go from office professional to trendy chic to t-shirt and jeans/shorts.  It kind of depends on my mood, that and where I am going.  When I go grocery shopping I tend to really not care what I look like.  There is no makeup, hair in a ponytail or bun or in a hat, sometimes there are even yoga pants instead of say jeans or shorts *gasp*.  I mean there are times when I get home from the store and I am like, "hmmmm, maybe I should have tried a little today."

Well I went to the store recently and I wore one of my many Woot Shirts.  These shirts vary from fandom to just plain geeky to "OMG, no one gets my twisted sense of humor".  This one happened to be Doctor Who themed.  Well its a fandom collision I guess because it features the DeLorean crashing into the TARDIS.  Anyway, I was on a mission to get my shopping done as quickly as possible. I had to go to 4 stores and I wanted get home to see a specific soccer match.  So I was not really paying attention when this semi attractive guy said something to me.  My brain registered someone was speaking to me but I was trying to decide if I wanted russet potatoes or red potatoes for my potato dish.  I looked up and he was smiling at me and I said "huh?" He repeated "I like your shirt".  I didn't even remember what I put on...it was one of my "I really should have tried" days.  When I saw it was a Whovian shirt, I smiled huge and said thanks!  Okay, I am married so to me the conversation was over and I started to veer back to my potato decision.  When he spoke again:

Him: What school do you go to?
Me: Wha..Oh, yea I'm not in college.
Him: ...... *staring*
Me:....what?
Him: *big smile* I mean high school
Me: *hysterical laughter* yea I'm not there either and haven't been for Ooooohhhh...long enough
Him:.... *raised eyebrow*
Me:  *eye roll, refocusing on my potatoes* I'm finished high school and college and grad school...

Then I smiled walked away.

I was laughing inside...did he really think I was in HS...did I get hit on by a high schooler....or was he a creeper hitting on a possible high schooler.  Hmmmm the world will never know.  He didn't look like a high schooler...maybe college-ish.  Actually he looked older then that but who knows I clearly don't look my age.

At my next location another person commented on my shirt and then smiled, pointed and winked at me every time he saw me.  He was closer to my age (I assume), it was fairly amusing.

The thing is I liked it.  I mean not getting hit on, well that was okay I guess, but not that.  I loved that other people knew what my shirt was because no one I know watches the show.  I mean some have heard of it but they tend to look at me like a weirdo when I talk about it. Usually saying very endearingly "Ooo Girl, let that nerd flag fly!".

I guess it just makes me happy that there are other Whovians out there, in my area :)
