Were you raised by animals?!?!?!

Wait...that's an insult to animals.  So like there is this almost epidemic happening with the Flu.  Everyone seems to be getting it.  So far I have been INSANELY lucky.  I am taking immune boosters just in case.  I don't care if they are proven, they make me feel better...placebo effect...whatever.
Anyways, going out in public you run the risk of being infected.  Well I might not want to be sick but like hell I was missing Comic Con.  So I took my stuff and ventured out.
For the most part I didn't hear anyone severely ill.  Here and there you would hear/see a sneeze/cough but nothing drastic.  But just in case I had my handy dandy false sense of clean (hand sanitizer) and was a little crazy with using it.  But I was touching things other, possibly sick, people touched so better safe than sorry, right.
Towards the end of our day at WWNOLA I was thinking out loud to my hubs how nice it was that there wasn't any OBVIOUSLY ill people.  Can someone slap me next time I make a stupid f**king comment like that?!?!  Because that is just BEGGING the universe to f**k with me.
There I was walking down one of the many exhibitor aisles looking at all the fun stuff when I went through a "crossing".   Some man walking perpendicular to me full on coughed....INTO THE SIDE OF MY FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He didn't attempt to turn.  He didn't attempt to cover his mouth.
Just hacked up a lung within 12 inches of my face.  He coughed so hard my hair blew in the "wind"
And not just a *cough, cough*, it was like one of those "wet", I might have an infection, deep chest coughs.
I was so grossed out I literally froze in place.
Before I could freak out some other patron dressed as some creepy zombie looking thing smacked him on the back of his a head and said "what's wrong with you?!!?!?!".  He beelined it WITHOUT apologizing.  The zombie looked at me and said "that's how virus' spread" and walked off.
I lost if laughing, like full belly laugh with giggles.  A ZOMBIE told me, that's how virus' are spread.  I don't know if he was trying to be funny but me and at least 3 other people who were nearby thought it was freaking hilarious.
"How did the Zombie apocalypse start?", well you see some @$$hole went to Comic Con sick.  "Son of a B**ch!"
I crack myself up.

Also, we are not talking like a kid or young person.  We are talking a GROWN @$$ MAN who should know to cough into his elbow!!!!

Lucky Dogs for Lunch

I know its a couple days late but this weekend was soooooo much fun.  Wizard World was PACKED Saturday...P.A.C.K.E.D.  We saw Grinches and Doctors and Harley Quinns and Wolverines and and and.  And pick something the cosplays were on point.  Although I must say my absolute FAVORITE was a guy dressed as King Jaffe Joffer!!!  I don't have a pic bc  my phone was misbehaving something awful (stupid cracked screen!) BUT he looked like f**king James Earl Jones.  His cosplay was perfection.

Oh if you don't know that would be the King from Coming to America....
A close second was Wolverine.  This guy was Logan and you can't convince me otherwise.
See...seeeeeeeeeeeee.  And he was very nice about everyone asking for pics.

I will also mention the PLETHORA of f**king people dressed as Pennywise.  I have no pics because I basically beelined it away from them but the costumes were accurate...VERY accurate *shudder*.

Anyways, I was super stoked for my pic, right?   Right!  And can I just say David Tennant is like the nicest freaking person ever.  He was like hyper puppy excited the entire time.  He took pics Friday evening and twice Saturday with Autographs in there someplace and a panel.  And the energy never faltered.

I took my pic during the first session Saturday.  I was probably the hundred and something person he saw and still just happy happy.  Like how do you do that?  I know its part of the job but it seemed 100% genuine.

So anyways, here's my account.  I was in line forEVER but that's cool, I kept myself amused by people watching, of course!  I was wearing a t-shirt...one of these years I am going to dress up!  That is happening dammit!  Anyways, I was in a Star Wars/Doctor Who mash up shirt.

So I finally get to the front of the line "yay"!!!!  He was friendly with everyone and all laughing and smiles.  It gets to my turn and I get a "point at" (Maybe a 'okay your turn'...maybe a 'nice shirt'...maybe a weird tick...no clue) and a crazy enthusiastic "Hellooooo, Good Morning!!!!" (I don't know how to type out a Scottish accent properly) and my response.. "Hello" with the biggest stupidest cheesy smile.  I am so f**king lame...hahahaha.  Then a 1, 2, 3 picture and you are off.

Observations:
- where does he get his freaking energy?!?!
- JFC he is significantly taller than I realized...or I am just short...or both.
- No really I fit under his armpit
- Seriously though, he had to lean over to put his arm around me
- He is so accommodating to fans
     - a couple had him do a gender reveal and he was crazy excited
     - some ladies had him hold a thing like he was crocheting and it was adorable

People always say don't meet your favorite whatevers because they never live up to your expectations but this was not the case for like the 3 seconds hahaha.  The panel was great too.  Again, INSANELY excited.  How does he do that?!?!?!

So all in all a crazy fun day!  Saw Stan Lee from a distance.  Saw Jason Momoa by being a creeper (shoosh). Side note - I knew he was tall but good lord he is a big guy!  Saw Rowena (Ruth Connell-Supernatural) just chilling in her Autograph booth.  Saw Thomas Ian Nicholas taking selfies and looking like he was having a great time.  The Fonz...the freaking FONZ (Henry Winkler) was there.  I didn't get to meet any of these people because that would have been crazy expensive but just seeing them was super cool!  Also, ran into Rob Kerkovich walking around (Sebastian-NCIS NOLA), told him hello but I didn't ask for a pic...because I am lame.  He is so super sweet!

I love love love going to these.  Its so much fun.  Just being there, walking around, surrounded by other fans...just that its worth it.  Meeting/seeing your favorite celebs is Lagniappe.

So now I have a pic with David & Jenna.  Who will I get to meet next time?!?!?!  Maybe I should venture away from Doctor Who....NAH!  Or maybe...depends on who is coming.

Just some sights we saw (wish I had more of the cosplays...stupid phone!):

I was in line and couldn't get their attention

Cool set up at one of the booths WWTW

I think I pulled a muscle being weird....

So yesterday...ya know Thanksgiving here in the States...I opened Facebook and made the absolute stupidest noise I have ever made!

I follow Wizard World.  And I always see all these super cool guests going to other cons but few come here to NOLA.  We get some but not toooooo many.  Anywhos the only one I was willing to pay money for was Jason Momoa.  I like him plus how funny would it be seeing me next to him (see this post) but I wasn't sure I could justify the $85 to take a pic.

Anyways, yesterday...the day of THANKS...I saw that one of my FAVORITE CELEBS is coming to WWNOLA and I geeked out.  I squeaked and then I said "$hit, I wonder how much that is gonna cost...*sad face*".  The husband was like who is coming...?

I very nonchalantly said "oh, um, David Tennant".  Ya know, like no big deal.  When inside I was like
He said "Uh huh, maybe you'll get it for Christmas".  Really?!?!?!  Then he said no, probably not.  DOH!

Anyways I looked and apparently Wizard World was having a Black Friday Promo *SWEEET*.  If I bought an anything Black Friday, I get a discount!!!!  So I thought about it and said I'd make a decision in the AM when I wasn't drunk on food intake.

So this morning I decided that I would totes regret NOT doing a photo because reasons....then I realized it was $104...OUCH.  Can I justify that?!?!  I can do it, maybe...I dunno.  But with the Discount, its $89...wait I can justify that, its under a $100

That's when I bought a photo op with one of my fav actors and then I fangirled a little...maybe a lot...and now my neck/back hurts...doh!  Oh and I told the sig other to MAKE SURE HE IS OFF so we can go this time.

That's it...nothing that interesting but I am kinda freaking out...this is sooooooo cool!  I love Cons!!! They give us little nerds a chance to meet/take pics/get autographs from our fav heroes (and villains)

So yea Happy Thanksgiving...I am definitely thankful for seeing that post!

Go home Mother Nature...you are DRUNK!

Southern States don't really have a true winter.  I mean like it gets cool...ish but rarely do we have Hard Freeze Warnings for the Entire state...especially the SE portion of it.  I mean it happens but its not often and when it does...if there is Ice/Sleet/Snow we can't function.  And its usually once in the season for like a day or two.

Thankfully this time the rain stopped BEFORE the temps dropped too much so the Ice/Sleet/Snow was not a factor for the most part.

But you see I had races this weekend...BECAUSE I AM CRAZY.  I had to bow out of the one Saturday *whew* but Sunday I still ran.

Now mind you when I checked the weather forecast on Thursday it said  "Saturday 39 with a windchill of 34" and "Sunday 43 with a wind chill of 38".  Okay that is f**king cold BUT we got this...right.  I checked it Friday evening and it said "Saturday 34 with a windchill of 28" and "Sunday 39 with a wind chill of 34"...
I woke up Saturday morning...
WTF?!?!?  Glad I'm staying home...
You might be thinking that is just a thin layer of ice over water...NOPE!  It is a frozen solid 5" puddle (shut up that is significant down here).  I stood on it.  It cracked a little but it held my weight....So yea, I had on my heater but I also had on  leggings, sweat pants, two long sleeve shirts, and a sweat shirt.  I was still f**king cold...so I basically spent my Saturday under a blanket on the couch with two dogs and two cats huddled for warmth.  I am southern...I am not made for this!
From Hyperbole and a Half (not mine)
So Sunday I get up to run 5.59 miles and see this...

Oh come on now!  F**k you Mother Nature!!!  So yea I ran in this.  The issue isn't the running.  Once you get started (and can finally feel you feet), you warm up significantly.  The issue is when you stop.  Because when you stop, you are sweaty and its still below freezing.  So yea I froze my @$$ off waiting for my friend (which wasn't long) and froze further trying to get some Jambalaya and Beer.  I went home and took the hottest shower I could stand...it took me 30 minutes to warm up in the shower.  Basically I was a human Popsicle.
Yes yes yes I know other people run in sub zero Bull$hit and run in this type of weather all the time but as I've stated before...I.am.Southern....we aren't used to this.  I can handle a cool run but freezing...f**k that...BURR!
What sucks is because we were so cold after the race, I didn't get to go to WWNOLA this year *wah*.  I really wanted to do the autograph thing with at least Stephen Amell and/or Christopher Lloyd.

Send help, I'm having a geeky panic attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know what to do *breathing into paper bag*.  Its like in 6 days.  WWNOLA is happening soon...right...I.can't.contain.the.fangirl
So here is a link to the celebs that will be there (and a few that have canceled, booo).  I've been geeking out since they announced the peoples.  So originally I was trying to figure out how to pay for a Photo Op with Mr. Smith because for some reason I had tunnel visioned on him being there.  When I realized there were so many other Doctor Who peeps and Marvel peeps, I just...I mean how do you choose?!?!?!  I'd be happy with any of them but we are doing another BIG trip next year (now this year) so alas, aside from MAYBE a ticket to the con, no big spending for me *le sigh*.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell for a gift I received a pretty cool thing.  Like REALLY really cool!  I mean clearly I am loved (and they know me well).  I got a photo op with a celeb at WWNOLA.  What?!!?!?  Ahhhhhhhh *pass out*.

The one I got is with Jenna Coleman.  OMG are you f**king kidding me!?!??!  *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*.   I know I said Mr. Smith BUT BUT BUT its Jenna.  She's so adorable and I really did like her as Clara.  I was running around in circles when I saw it.  I mean legit fangirling like a complete nutter.  I am such a weirdo!  So of course, I've been telling people and they are like "Oh cool...I forgot you, uh, like that...stuff" *ugh* no one gets me *plfeet*.  Someone else geek out with me dammit!
My dilemma...I've never done a celeb photo op.   I mean photo yes but nothing "organized".  I don't fear me being awkward, I am usually fine but I don't know what to wear *waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah*.  I only got the gift like 2 weeks before the con.  I didn't have time to really create a cosplay....or an outfit...I mean I have a bunch of Who t-shirts.  I could totally wear one of those.  But then my stupid creative brain was like "didn't you want to cosplay?!?  You even wrote down what you would wear if you went to WWNOLA.  You know...the diner outfit?" OMG shut up brain! It's true...I have it written down but didn't buy anything because poor and whatnot.  Oh and didn't think I was even going.  But then I was like wait is that weird!?!?  I'd be a blonde (a bit taller, maybe) Clara wannabe, taking a pic with Clara...I am sure people have been very weird with celebs in photo ops but I really don't fancy being weird.  I think I am over thinking but I am so excited.
So what do I do?!?!?!  Should I attempt to make the outfit?  Or just do a t-shirt?!?!  Maybe my Back to the Future/Who Crossover shirt...Oooo or maybe the Alice in Wonderland/Who crossover shirt or, or...or....  Ahhhhhhhhhhhh too many options, someone make the decision for me!!!

I think I just melted into a puddle of goo

So there was this Con recently...I mean there is one like every weekend somewhere.  But  this one was lucky enough to have Mr. Tennant.  Okay, I MIGHT be a little jealous...okay, no totally jealous...that is soooo cool!!!

Anyways, someone uploaded this panel question to You Tube and I swear I dissolved into a fit of giggles.  It was adorable...it should be illegal to be that flipping charming.  And what was said...what was said...everyone's favorite 10 said "Rose was a girlfriend... even if they didn't say it."

WHAT?!!?!?  Who didn't know this?  Are you blind...were people not paying attention when they said goodbye on the beach...the first time!?!?!?  "The four of us and....the baby..." yea yea she said its mums but STILL!!!!!!!!!  Look at the scene again...look at it!!!!!

Ten freaking years later and this Ship is somewhat confirmed. I mean I always thought it was but it is never said, "Rose Tyler....." (insert gross sobbing).  Then what he said about the 2nd time saying goodbye on the beach...I think I snorted...really man ??? "nobody wants to watch someone who looks like you and basically is you getting to do all the shagging you didn't get to do." *dead*. Did you hear that?  That noise was thousands of fangirls/boys squealing, then fainting around the world.

So I guess this little video makes up for it being Monday and finding wildlife in our office.

Me: Don't touch the turtle
Friend: Why??? Is jus' turtle...
Me: No, its a snapping turtle...don't...
Friend: *reaches for it* Aye, he try bite me!!!
Me: *sigh* Yea...that's, that's kinda what they do....

Yay, I finally went!!!

My little geeky heart almost exploded :)  Granted WWNOLA isn't huge (yet), but it is my first Comic Con type adventure so I was so flipping excited!!!  Of course people who don't understand my nerdness were BAFFLED why I would pay $40+ just to get in and then more if I wanted to meet anyone famous (which down here seems to be A LOT of Walking Dead peeps)

I didn't pay any extra for meet & greets/photo ops/autographs but I was perfectly content just observing.  I am a people watcher and there are so many sights to see, I was loving it!  My husband was trying really hard not to fan boy when we saw Brett Dalton signing at his booth.  I mean he was a mere 20 feet away, I had a perfect view of him.  Then not far behind on the next aisle was Tom Felton.  There was a plethora of Walking Dead peeps but I don't watch the show religiously so I only knew a few.  I was sad Norman Reedus had to cancel (at least that's what I was told), I may have paid to meet him.  Not just because he is Darryl but because one of my all time fav movies is Boondock Saints!

Moving on to the other attendees!  So many wonderful cosplays.  I was impressed and made a decision that I will dress up one of these days but I can't figure out who/what I will cosplay as...hmmmm.  I don't have pics.  I wish I did!!!  Anyways some of my favs were a guy dressed as Jareth (Goblin King) .  It was perfect right down to the obvious bulging package...o_O. Yes I looked...it was difficult not to!  A girl dressed as the cyber doctor.  It was so good.  She had the clothing near perfect and she had the metal cyber doohickey on her face and it even lit up!  I wanted to stop her and tell her how amazing her cosplay was but there were too many people between us and she walked away.  Of course there were storm troopers and Jedi and Vaders galore.  I saw a few Castiels that all seemed to walk around with a confused puppy dog look making them that more awesome.  There were quite a few Doctors of various eras but none topped the Cyber Doctor (can you tell I was impressed?!?).  Oh, there was a "red shirt" Trekkie.  His shirt was all torn up and he had an arm sling and looked thoroughly beat up.  Creative!  There really were too many to name but these were the ones that stood out to me, on the day I was there.

It seems the NOLA stop gets bigger every year.  I hope it continues to grow!  Because I am assuming the bigger it is, the more likely we'll be to get even bigger celebrities, panels, etc.  Which since I went this time, of COURSE I will be attending in the future.  SDCC is still on my bucket list.  I WILL go there one day!

You won!...sort of

This is paraphrased but you get the gist.

Caller: ...An all expenses paid trip to (insert posh vacay) doesn't that sound wonderful?!?!
Me: Um really??
(mind you I did do one of the "enter to win" things at WWNOLA)
Caller:  Yes, do you have a pen and paper, here are the deets
Me: Uhhhh sure, go ahead.
Caller:  Rattles off the most amazing sounding vacay to Orlando, FL for 5 days.
Me: Huh, cool...
Caller:  It gets better...proceeds to rattle off more amazing vacays that come with this "package"
Me: Ummmm, ooookkkaaaaay
Caller:  Still prattleing on about the 3 additional trips that comes with my winnings
Me: Wow... *thinking* why do I feel like I'm on some infomercial "but wait there's more"
Caller:  Yes wow!  You and 49 other lucky winners.
Me:  *Getting more suspicious* Soooo what's the catch
Caller:  There's no catch, this is a $4,000+ value all yours.  For you and your hubby and two other adults.
Me: Kaaaaay...
Caller:  All you have to do is pay the processing fees and taxes today and you have 2 years to go on these four luxurious vacations.
Me:  I, uh, only signed up for the Orlando thing.
Caller:  but this is all free!
Me: Processing fees aren't "free". Although I would expect to pay taxes
Caller: But listen...get this its only $349
Me: Okay not that bad...
Caller: Per person
Me: What?!?  Isn't this a vacation for four?!?!
Caller: But you only pay for two people the other two are free
Me: Um $700 today...who are you again?
Caller: (insert name of travel agency) Is the money the only thing holding you back?
Me: Y...eee...ssss *thinking* that and I don't normally give my CC out to random people that call me over the phone.... oh and this doesn't seem like that GREAT of a deal
Caller: Hold on let me see if I can get a better rate *puts me on hold*
Me: It sounds waaaaaay too good to be true.  Eff this *hangs up*

Did I miss out on 4 GREAT vacations.  Possibly.  But we have to be able to use them in two years time and we have to pay our way to get there so all expenses paid is not quite right...maybe I miss heard her.  Maybe she didn't say that and I inserted it but I don't think I did.  Yea Orlando hotel and theme park tix paid (well, actually, we can buy them at BOGO) but I have to fly or drive to get there.  A trip to Miami...I love Miami but I have to get there.  And only the hotel is paid for.  Cruise sounds wonderful but it leaves out of Miami (again flying issue) and you get no extra moula so you have to pay for everything else.  Trip to Vegas, again REALLY?!!?!?

So this deal sounds more like hey we'll pay for your hotel if you figure out your own passage, pay for your own food, etc but we would really like a good review/recoomendation from you in return.

NOTHING IS FREE PEOPLE!  Like I said, I expect to pay taxes on contests that are won but really?!?   Plane tickets alone are $200+ per person unless you get an awesome deal on Southwest.  Food...omg...food is ridiculous!  For two people to eat out everyday for at least two meals...even going cheap cheap, it's no less than $75 per day (and that is chain restaurants and no alcohol).  Plus a rental or cab fare to get around.  And if you are in Miami or Vegas you are going to want to go out to a club/bar at least once which I can tell you first hand isn't cheap!  For Vegas you get $100 spend how you want card (usable at casinos).  I can tell you that $100 will get you 1 and a 1/2 buffets (maybe) if you use it for food.  Basically I am saying it wont go very far.

So all in all they wanted me to pay them $700 but each trip would cost us an extra $1,250 (I mean BARE MINIMUM).  In reality it would be way more.  Actually it would be more for the Orlando trip because it doesn't include the park passes.  It is 4 trips...that is $5,000+ over TWO YEARS!  Plus the $700 I have to pay upfront.  In what way does this sound like a good deal?!?!?  For $2,000 I can fly both of us to Orlando, stay on the Disney grounds, get two 5 day hopper passes and probably meal plans (those changed recently so I am not sure).  Oh an transportation is included unless you need to leave the grounds....

Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

This is directed at your universe!  You suck big donkey *expletive*!

So it was happening, that day was finally approaching where as an adult I can finally...finally go to a Con.  Shut up, this isn't philosophical like the last post...this my friend is my super nerd coming out.

Okay so in NOLA we have this thing that started coming around here a few years ago called Wizard World...you may have heard of it, ha!  Anyways for a while I've wanted to attend a Con...someplace, well anyplace but I had no one to go with.  Well last year my inner fan girl desperately wanted to go to this one and my hubs said he would go but with the house crap and ex crap and well just crap life threw at me it wasn't in the stars and we didn't go.  I read all about it and laughed and died a little inside but there is always another one...right?!  **UPDATE** I just realized I said last year...I keep forgetting its 2014...technically it was the end of 2012 so I guess not last year ;) hahahahaha

I've been very wrapped up in more life crap these days so I totally forgot this would be coming around again soon.  Then it happened...I got an alert about NOLA Comic Con...about who was coming and...and....be still my heart Eleven is coming...holy shit no way?!?!!?!?  The Doctor...the freaking Doctor, what...no...really...Ahhhhh!  I mean I know he's not "the doctor" anymore...what am I saying, he'll always be the doctor, well one of them.  See there she is my inner fangirl just busting at the seems to emerge.  Ok ok ok not like I can afford (or could justify) the $350 to do a VIP ticket or $100 for a photo op (on top of the admittance)...I adore him and all (maybe if it was a previous incarnation, haha but probably not) but I have other expenses that unfortunately trump that.  But just to go this year, OMG I was so flipping excited.  Then I read that Alan Tudyk and Norman Reedus...Wil Wheaton...among others were scheduled *inaudible squeak*.  I mean some serious fangirling was going on when I was supposed to be working.   I swear my hubs could seeing the fangirl tearing through the surface and was like, *sigh* so I guess we are going...but he was just as excited.  He can't fool me, his inner fanboy was grinning ear to ear.

Yea yea I know, not going to the VIP experience things or buying the photo ops, means not meeting those peeps or seeing the panels more than likely, I guess...I mean I really don't know.  But still it just got me so excited...and its in my city and ahhhhhhhhhhh!  Then I saw the dates...and I cried.  Okay not physically cried but my inner fangirl is just a wreck.  Its the same weekend as my friends Bachlorette Party *insert string of vulgar curses*.  And there is no way I am missing that, not in a million years but argh!  I can finally go and you took it away from me :P  Stupid Universe playing with my emotions.  "You gave me hope, then you took it away, that's enough to make anyone dangerous, God knows what it'll do to me." Hahahaha see she popped out again...silly fangirl stop surprising me with random fandom quotes.

Seeing whose going to be there should clue you in as to why my title is what it is and well my random fandom quote.  *sigh* maybe next time :P If you need me I'll be glued to my iPad/TV watching Netflix furthering my fangirl-ness.  OK that is not a word...well it is now.  NOLAGurl out.
