I have failed as a Whovian

So I wore this shirt...since its Friday...and Halloween is Monday...eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Cute, right?!?!  Whatever, I think its adorable.

Anyways, I was walking around my office and the following happened:

CW: I don't get it.  Why would anyone Trick or Treat at a Police Box....thingy?
Me: *stupid stare*
CW: Is that a British thing?  Do they do that in Britain?
Me: *confused stare*
CW: I for one wouldn't walk up to a police box...you never know who could be lurking around or INSIDE!
Me: *wtf stare*

I finally said..."Its a...its a Doctor Who reference...."
CW: *stupid stare* What's that...?

Me: *AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*
Ha! I explained, in as calm...not a super weirdo nerd way possible, what Doctor Who is.

CW: oh you and your one season shows.
Me: *thump*

Sorry I passed out.

Me: What?!?!?!  Its been on the air for over 50 years!!!
CW: oh, well I've never heard of it so it mustn't be that popular.

Just kidding.  But how can you not know...even just in name...I have a T.A.R.D.I.S. on my car.  I pre-ordered tix to the 50th viewing in my area and talked about it.  I talked about meeting Jenna Coleman for a Photo Op at WWNOLA.  I wear fandom shirts and make fandom references (not just about DW). And.......what rock have you been living under?!!?!? Sorry, sorry, sorry...I forget not everyone watches things other than reality TV....
No but really, just by me being...well me...they should have at least known the name....we've worked together for 12 years....

And that's how you figure out you may have a new "celebrity crush" *doh*

Sooooooooooooooooooo I may have mentioned recently at that other site that I really really really REALLY like that new show Lucifer on Fox.  If you haven't watched it you are missing out!  Like holy crap I am 100% obsessed.  Okay not obsessed but I love it!  The casting is perfection.  The writing is amazing.  The whole premise is fascinating.  Never in my life did I think I would "feel sorry for the devil".  He's just so misunderstood...oh my God I am going to hell.
It also helps that Mr. Ellis is not bad to look at...and takes his shirt off...FREQUENTLY (thank you TV gods).  But it isn't just that...
Oh and the accent...what is it about accents?!?!!?  He's just really good at making me want to be friends with the devil...but he's still scary...that sounds so weird...

With that said I have my old favs.  Those will never change...probably (hahaha).  But I didn't realize how much Lucifer was on my mind until today.  Again, I sound like a satanist...I'm not...I SWEAR!

I was speaking to a Customer.  His name is Tom.  As he was talking I was scribbling notes.  I went back to look at my notes and I wrote down "Tom Ellis".  His name...his name isn't Ellis *gah*...its close but soooooooooo not.  It actually starts with an 'H' but it ends in -is so that's close...right?!?!
Anyways when I realized my blunder I put my head down and giggled.  Like legit GIGGLED.  Oh lord help me I think I have a teeny crush on the devil...I mean Mr. Ellis...I mean Mr. Ellis playing Lucifer Morningstar.  Aaaaaaaaaaaaand OMG I really do sound like a loon!

You made me sound like uncultured swine, not cool man...!

Okay so I get all kinds of calls on my phone...it is the nature of my job.  And as I've stated before because of the weird way our office phones forward to our cell phones it always looks like I am getting calls from across the world.

So my phone rang and it said Warrington, England.  I answered...clearly its one of those weird forward situations.  I said "This is NOLA Gurl" and a ridiculously proper English accent responded.  I almost dropped my phone.  Alright, whose f**king with me today?!?  So I pulled the phone away from my ear and realized it was not a forwarded call.  Then I hear, "hello....hello...Miss???" in a very concerned English accent.  Right...okay brain start working!

Me: Hi.......
Caller:  Hello Ms NOLA Gurl, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Me: Hi.....................
Caller: I'm Thomas from *insert company I created an account for yesterday*
Me: Oh, oh *giggle* hello.
Caller:  Yes, well I couldn't help but notice you created two items on our platform but never completed the order.  One appears to be for your American holiday of Thanksgiving and the other a wonderfully creative Christmas item.
Me: Uh huh....
Caller:  Well you see, I would like to inquire if there was an issue with the platform that caused you to not wish to continue.
Me: Oh, no no, it worked great.  I just need approval before I continue.
Caller: Oh, splendid! Well then, would it be beneficial to you if forwarded you additional information related to our products to get to your higher ups?
Me:  Yea, sure that would be wonderful
Caller: *verifying my email* *pronounces my insanely ridiculous French last name perfect on the first try* Is that correct?
Me: *jaw drop*
Caller: Miss?
Me: Yes, yes that.  Um yes, that is correct.
Caller: Splendid, well Ms. *pronounces my last name perfectly again* it has been an immense pleasure speaking with you. Please do not hesitate to contact me should a question arise when placing your order.
Me: Yes, thank....thank you.

*click*

Imagine getting a call from Tom Hiddleston...that's really all I could think after he said his name was Thomas!  Stupid nerd brain being stupid.

W.T.F. just happened?!?!  How did I end up on the phone sounding like a moron with someone from England?!!?!? And who says splendid?!?!?  So I went check the website I was on and sure enough they are based out of the U.K.  I didn't even realize it!  Not that it matters.  It is a digital product I was looking into, I was just culture shocked I guess.

Look I work in Louisiana...9 times out of 10 I am on the phone with some Cajun who speaks in Southern/Cajun speak. Ya know bastardized English....so I was caught a bit off guard. And NO ONE, I mean NO ONE who doesn't know me personally has EVER pronounced my last name correctly on the first try...without stuttering...that just shorted out my brain *ugh* I am such a goober!

Side Note - He called me at 3:00PM my time...that's what....9:00PM their time.  He was waaaaaay too chipper to be working at a call center at 9:00PM!!!

I just geeked out over a Crime Drama person...character...thing

Two posts in one day, count yourself lucky!  I was working on something for a Client and they said they needed to add someone to their account.  Okay, email me.

I just got the email...the new person wants his user info to be ahardy.  What?!?!?  Is he also grumpy and Scottish?!?  Please tell me he's at least a detective.

His name is not the same.  Darn, hahaha.  If his name would have been Alec or even Alex, I may have died laughing. But he is a security guard...I've been laughing for ten minutes.  Can you IMAGINE that character being a Mall Cop.  That would be HILARIOUS!  I watched the crap outta that, ha!

My co-workers are wondering why I find this so funny. Educate yourself people!  Watch British television, tee hee hee.

Sweet Tea. . .it's a Southern Thang

Weeeeeell it's a US thing.  I knew this...I mean I've read online (everything you read online is fact) in various places how outside of our little Freedom Bubble people don't really do the cold tea thing.  I laughed hysterically at this post when I saw it the first time because, OMG it's hilarious!

11th commandment: thou shalt not lick the devils armpit
Anyways, I've never really put much thought to it outside of the randomness online.  I am an avid iced tea drinker...well I drink hot tea too but usually in winter or when I am sick...look I live in the devil's armpit, hot tea doesn't mix well with 90+ degrees and 100% humidity.  I barely drink hot coffee in the summer and that is only in the morning when I need a caffeine jolt.
(and why did this seem like an appropriate pic?!?)

That being said, pouring a cup of sweet ICED tea at a restaurant is not something I'd think twice about....until recently.  I was at one of those serve your own drinks type places (not fast food).  There was a few of us at the counter and I was pouring some Iced Tea when I heard someone mumble "bloody Americans ruining tea" in an impressive British accent...and by impressive I mean sexy...yep I said that, say something!

Myself and the girl next to me glanced over at this stupidly attractive young-ish guy, he winked at us and walked off.  "I...what just happened?!?!"  Neither of us responded at first...then we looked at each other and started giggling.

My thoughts...was he really British or just messing with us?  How old was he because he looked REALLY young (not that I can talk)?  Why did he feel the need to comment on the tea??? Was that his way of flirting with one or both of us (not that I am interested)???  Ahhhh now I need to know!  I was near a college campus so he totally could be a grad student...or even a professor...maybe...which when I was in college we had A LOT of foreign professors in various subjects.

So I guess now I know first hand (maybe, probably not) that we ARE considered a bunch of weirdos for drinking cold tea...who knew?!?
